Iceland by Juno Swift

I have this tendency to obsess about strange exotic places. I’ll watch a film or hear music from a random place, become intrigued, and then go on a full on binge finding out EVERYTHING about that particular place. The obsession can range from harmless (like the time I went to the New Zealand study abroad office and asked a million questions about surfing I mean studying abroad) to a full on love affair (my obsession with Amsterdam kept me there for 3 years!). My first destination love was Iceland. I heard one too many Sigur Ros albums and BAM I was hooked. I was 20 years old and I knew I had to go there. So I waited tables and saved up for a year and finally took an unforgettable trip to this magical little country. Being a military brat, I travelled my entire life but Iceland was unlike anything I had seen before. That trip not only got me hooked on travel as an adult outside of military life but opened my eyes to a beautiful nordic culture.

Its been six years since visiting that cold little mars of an island and I’m starting to dream of a return trip there. I came across these beautiful photographs by Juno Swift and seeing these amazing images made me want to go back and capture the beauty with my own camera. Isn’t this place magical?
